Job Description:


Our client is looking for a Team Leader to join their team in a field based role covering the Sussex and Kent counties.

This role is working for a Training Company and you will be leading a team of Health and Social Care Assessors. You must have the Assessing and Verifying qualifications (A1, D32, D33, D34, V1) and a strong background in Health and Social Care.

Overview of the role

Accountable for maximising the performance of a of team of Assessors in all aspects of the role by setting and monitoring KPIs, managing performance, ensuring quality standards, supporting with problems, facilitating staff development ensuring the team have all of the relevant skills and knowledge required to carry out their role and that all team practices promote the culture and direction of the organisation in which the Company can develop and prosper.

Purpose of Role:

To support the business growth activity within a specific area, in order to meet agreed targets and budget contributions.
To engage with all relevant stakeholders’ and to effectively manage and deploy team members to meet financial, administrative, quality targets and objectives as agreed by the Area/Business Development Manager

Over-arching KPIs:
•  Area Team MLP compliance
• Office grading and team WRAG rating
• Financial contribution
• plus 2 area KPIs as agreed with your line manager

The key General/Financial based responsibilities for a Team Leader are:

• Make direct and effective use of the Performance Management process to ensure company KPIs are met within team for which you are responsible. This will include carrying out monthly 1 to 1 performance reviews and monitoring/managing performance.
• Make direct and effective use of the Quality Assurance process to ensure maintenance or improvement of the WRAG rating for which you are responsible.
• Support Assessors within the team, either directly or indirectly, to enable them to meet their own targets (for example, by identifying and troubleshooting problem sites/learners).
• Support the Area Manager to enable the growth and improvement of the area (for example, by implementing their strategies or assisting with recruitment/staff development).
• Support the continuous growth of the Area by carrying out direct sales and marketing and ensuring the team’s marketing activity takes place.
• Facilitate the many changes faced in WBL by providing training, support and appropriate resources to staff and disseminating relevant information to the team.
• Ensure new members of the team receive appropriate induction and support to enable the successful completion of probation periods.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of the company’s products/ services and government funding guidance and audit requirements.
• Work within budget for specific area, and assist the Area Manager to ensure financial targets are met.
• Advise, guide Trainers/Assessors to deliver programmes within agreed timescales and to awarding organisations requirements
• Manage and maintain an agreed caseload of learners
• Ensure all funding and company paperwork is completed and inputted accurately and correctly by all team members

The key people based responsibilities for a Team Leader are:

• To motivate, lead and support the team for which you are responsible to meet objectives. 
• To liaise with Area Manager and disseminate their strategies to the team for which you are responsible.
• To work closely with internal quality personnel in order to maintain or improve standards.
• To form and maintain good working relationships with external bodies ensuring, the company’s culture is promoted (including awarding body representatives, SFA representatives, auditors, OFSTED representatives, JCP representatives, other providers etc).
• To ensure quality processes are carried out by the team (and local quality personnel) in line with the current company strategy.
• To deal with any performance issues following company procedures. 
• Coach and mentor Trainers/Assessors and Administrators
• Assess, Coach and Train Learners
• Ensure the companies HR policies and procedures are adhered to
• Liaise with other members of the management/development team

The Stakeholders’ / Quality based responsibilities for a Team Leader are:

• To deliver an exemplar level of customer service to all company clients.
• To set an example to the team for which you are responsible which promotes company culture and passion for the hospitality and training.
• To ensure that the team members adopt this attitude and perform their role with a view to complete client satisfaction.

• To offer support and guidance on all aspects of assessment and vocational training. To ensure the delivery of training is in line with each client’s needs and internal company objectives.
• Attend contract/client meetings as necessary.
• Keep diary up to date
• To attend internal and external meetings, workshops and standardisations in order to disseminate current and relevant information to the team for which you are responsible.
• To plan, deliver and evaluate workshops and standardisations, in conjunction with quality personnel, which will meet the needs of the business and the team for which you are responsible.
• To carry out verification (where appropriate qualifications and occupational competence allow) in line with company strategy and business requirements.
• To co-ordinate awarding body quality visits where required, in conjunction with internal quality personnel.
• To ensure staff has the support they require to maintain and improve their quality performance.
• To deal with any quality performance issues by following company procedures.
• To achieve and maintain the agreed WRAG rating for the specific area responsible for carrying out live verification sampling with team members - refer to an appropriate member of the quality team if the part of the process sampled requires alternative occupational expertise
• Ensure materials provided are effective and meet Quality Assurance requirements for programme delivery
• Attend external meetings to provide a quality service that fits the abilities of the company to deliver and the needs of each client.
• Any other reasonable requests made by line management or Directors

Authority Level:
• Planning SMART targets with team-members which will achieve the desired objectives - refer to the Area Manager where targets will be un-achievable or discriminatory.
• Dealing with performance issues following the company procedures - refer to the Area/Regional Manager prior to instigating the company disciplinary procedure.
• Providing support and training to team members - refer to the Areal/Regional Manager when training incurs cost to the organisation or involves considerable time away from normal duties.
• Co –ordinate client meetings to meet the demands of the business.
• Attend external events that have a positive impact on company inclusion to the Health & Social Care arena.
• Monitor and authorise staff expenses

Qualifications
Essential:
• Minimum of Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (TAQA Unit 1) or equivalent.
• Current literacy and numeracy skills at level 2 or above

Desirable:
• PTLLS Qualification or equivalent.
• Relevant Management or Team Leading Qualification
• Health and Safety qualification at level 2 or above

Occupational Experience
Essential:
• Proven track record of meeting quality and business targets.
• Proven track record of motivating and leading teams.
• Proven record of exemplar customer service.
• Operated as a Trainer (assessor) for at least one year

Desirable:
• Operated within WBL or care sector.
• Experience of dealing with external bodies and co-ordinating inspection visits.
• Experience of working as a Supervisor/ Manager / Duty Manager
• Experience of co-ordinating training programmes.
• Working with SFA/ESF Funded contracts
