Programmes for the Unemployed - Trainer Assessor (Norwich)
Our client is looking for a Trainer / Assessor to deliver Programmes for the Unemployed in the Norwich, Norfolk area.
The role is to be based at the company’s fixed delivery centre in the centre of Norwich so would someone who knows the local area well. Current location as below but we are looking for more permanent central Norwich premises
You must be experienced in working with unemployed learners and experienced in delivering Employability programmes and Skills with PTLLS qualification as a minimum. You will be providing support / sourcing job vacancies to help learners back into work / sustainable employment.
Overview of role:
Accountable for maintaining a caseload of learners and ensuring the delivery of training programs meet the requirements of the funding agency, awarding organisation and company
Purpose of Role:
• To be responsible for maintaining a caseload of learners as agreed with Line Manager and appropriate to the WRAG grading of the Trainer/Assessor
• To coach, train and assess candidates through qualifications and apprenticeship frameworks, complying at all times with the company and Awarding Organisations Quality Assurance requirements
• To support the business growth activity with following up leads, generating new business and supporting learners into sustainable employment if applicable in order to meet agreed targets and budget contributions as directed by Line Manager and meeting agreed start profiles
Over-arching KPIs:
• MLP ratings as determined by the company;
• WRAG grading to be achieved and maintained as agreed with Line Manager and QA team
• Financial contribution in line with area budget and profile plus 2 local KPIs as agreed with your line manager
The key General/Financial based responsibilities for a Trainer Assessor are:
• To positively market the company to acquire new business partners
• To engage with employers and maintain current partnerships to secure repeat business
• Through learner and employer engagement ensure that programs are completed within agreed timescales (maintain MLPs and OOFs)
• Ensure a current up to date knowledge of the company products and services
• To work to agreed KPIs
• To secure agreed new starts and outcomes each month to ensure financial viability
• Be responsible for time and diary management
• To motivate learners, complete regular visits and act professionally at all times
• Be responsible for the company property you are given to carry out your job role
• To maintain consistently high levels of auditable documents
• Complete CPD activities to maintain industry knowledge and competency
• Complete all paperwork required to show clear audit trail of progress and achievement
The key people based responsibilities for a Trainer Assessor are:
• Interview, sign up and induct new Learners onto the correct program
• Coach, mentor and assess Learners
• Ensure the companies HR policies and procedures are adhered to.
• To be supportive of learners
• To interact and engage with employers in existing and new sites when conducting marketing visits
• To support the work of the team, region and company and share best practice.
• Progress all learners to achieve within their planned programme finish date
• Liaise with other team members to support the team in reaching their targets.
• Liaise with the verification team to ensure quality standards are met and upheld
• To ensure the learners’ welfare and safety whilst on the training programme and carry out checks and monitoring of their work placement’s health and safety, equality of opportunity and adherence to employment legislation
• To ensure customers receive an enriched learning experience, remain on programme and achieve the targets specified within their learning plan
• To undertake and support job search activities, liaise with employers to source vacancies and support and signpost participants to suitable vacancies in order to meet contractual requirements for job outcomes – PfU1 programmes only
• To liaise with employers to identify and support clients through work placements and work experience as appropriate – PfU* programmes only
• To provide follow up support and guidance to programme participants once they have gained employment in line with contractual requirements – PfU* programmes only
• To undertake through ONA and TNA activities with employers, to support the work of the company and sister company as a training partner
The Stakeholders’ / Quality based responsibilities for a Trainer Assessor are:
• To deliver to own targets to ensure overall contracts and/ or service level agreements are complied with both in terms of volumes and stakeholders expectations’.
• To deliver an exemplar level of customer service to all company clients.
• Identify business solutions to meet client needs.
• To support and guidance on all of the learner’s program
• To ensure the delivery of training is in line with each client’s needs and internal company objectives.
• Attend standardisation and development meetings as necessary to ensure current product and delivery knowledge is provided to the customer
• Support the demands of the department and business as needed.
• Maintain and keep up to date electronic calendar/diary
• To comply with audit compliance guidelines
• To comply company policies and procedures
• To observe awarding organisation regulations and standards
• Rearrange visits cancelled by the learner in timely manner to ensure no significant gaps in learning delivery
• Engage with employers to promote Apprenticeships and other company training programmes and their benefits.
• Attend external events that have a positive impact on company inclusion to the Hospitality/Care arena such as careers events as requested by your line manager
• Attend team meetings as required.
• Develop and maintain links with local JCP offices, Prime contractors and other key stakeholders – PfU* programmes only to undertake other training activities, attend meetings and other reasonable requests to support the deployment and development of programmes

• To achieve and maintain the agreed WRAG rating within the first year of employment.
• Achieve Company stated MLP completions rate
• Ensure materials provided are effective and meet Quality Assurance requirements for programme delivery
• Attend standardisation and development meetings to ensure that you provide a quality service that fits the abilities of the company to deliver and the needs of each client.
• Maintain and record own CPD with regard to technical expertise and trainer-assessor skills.
• To undertake development requirements to enable the company to broaden the schemes on offer.
• Maintain and increase where possible financial contribution
• Follow up marketing leads and referrals efficiently and within the agree timeframe
• Meet all verification requests in line with verification policy, including arranging site visits and formative verifications.
• Any other reasonable requests made by line management or Directors.
Authority Level:
• Co –ordinate employer/learner meetings to ensure progression and deal with any concerns
• To develop and maintain links with employers in agreed areas of operation to secure a pool of job vacancies for eligible learners – PfU* programmes only
• To make minor purchases that will support the learning and assessment process – with prior agreement of line manager
• To advise Line Manager and Senior Management of areas of concern or contraventions of key operating and personnel policies and procedures
• To meet in the context of the TA role, the duty to report concerns re the well-being of any learner
Qualifications
Essential
• Literacy and numeracy at least level 2 (grade c or above)
• Industry qualifications at level 2
Desirable
• PGCE, GCSEs TAQA qualification and equivalent CTTLs
• level 4 teaching training qualification and suitable occupational/industry qualifications
Occupational Experience
